History of St Joseph's Church (Bukit Timah)
1930s By the 1930s, St Joseph’s Church had become a pilgrimage destination for Christians of Malaya and Singapore. Thousands would make their way to the parish every St Joseph’s Feast Day. This devotion to St Joseph started soon after the statue of the saint arrived in 1861. The train from Town heading towards the Causeway would make a special stop in front of the church to let pilgrims off.
