History of St Joseph's Church (Bukit Timah)

1960s Fr Teng finally completed the new St Joseph’s Church in the early 1960s. It stood tall as a visible Church on a Hill. The new church architecture also proudly displays the parish’s Chinese heritage. Going into the 1970s and 1980s, the parish would respond to the socio-economic changes affecting the country as a whole – a new kindergarten would be built and the church started clearing out the squatter houses around its compound.
